Largest cable saddle in world installed on Shizi Yang Bridge

Guangdong Transportation Group announced on July 28 that the world’s largest cable saddle for the Shizi Yang Bridge has been successfully hoisted. With this milestone, the hoisting operations for both the main cable saddles and splay saddles of the bridge have been fully completed, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent erection of the cable system.

The Shizi Yang Passage is the first double-deck composite transport passage across the Pearl River Estuary, stretching around 35 kilometers. It connects Nansha District of Guangzhou with Shatian Town and Humen Town in Dongguan. Its main bridge, the Shizi Yang Bridge, is the world’s first dual-deck suspension bridge with a span exceeding 2,000 meters. The project is set to secure five world records: the most traffic lanes, the tallest bridge tower, the longest main span, the thickest main cable, and the largest anchorage foundation.
